Martha B. Thomas

Age 79, of Vandalia, passed away at her home on Sunday morning, January 1, 2017. Martha was born March 13, 1937 in Breathitt County, Kentucky to the late George McIntosh & Carrie (Hall-McIntosh-Lawson). In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, A. C., Roy & Jesse McIntosh & Henry Lawson; and three sisters, Arkie McIntosh-Johnson, Geneva McIntosh & Julie McIntosh.

She was a member of the Vandalia First Baptist Church for over 35 years and retired from K-Mart as a Human Resources Manager with 30 years of service. She loved to travel, especially to Branson, Missouri, Myrtle Beach and the Smoky Mountain Area, plus she was an avid Elvis fan and enjoyed country music.

Martha is survived by her loving husband of the past 62 years, William D. Thomas; three daughters, Bambi Gross (Alfred), Brenda Cline (Chuck) and Tammie Herald (Clay); three sisters, Lisa Kirk (Dewey), Shirley Stamper & Kelsie Salyers; eight grandchildren, Trisha, Greg, Christina, Julie, Chuck III, Nicole, Angela & Amanda; and by 13 great grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday January 5, at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with John Seagraves officiating. Entombment will be at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville.
