FISHER, Marvin L., age 80 of Vandalia, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011. He was born May 17, 1930, son of the late Carcie & Ruby Fisher. Preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole, Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia; 3 sons, John & wife, Gloria Himes of New Carlisle, Dick & wife, Leslie Himes of AZ and Scott Himes of WA; his loved sister, Donna & husband, John Dahm of Centerville; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Courtney Ann, Whitney & Christopher; 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marvin was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved the outdoors and anything to do with flying (and a little drink was always welcome). Marvin was employed at General Motors for 25 years, was a member of the American Legion Post #668 and will be greatly missed by his many friends. We will all truly miss his sense of humor. A Memorial Service to celebrate Marvins life will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 13 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., with Pastor Mark Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 11:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Marvins memory. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
