Mary E. Compton

COMPTON, Mary Evelyn age 86 of Huber Heights, passed away Sunday September 23, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton after a lengthy illness. She was born April 6, 1926 in Kentucky, daughter of the late George W. & Addie S. (Martin) Grant. Mrs. Compton was a member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple where she sang in the church choir and was active in the Ladies Fellowship. She was a loving wife to her husband Eugene who died July 4, 2012. Mary died on what would have been their 62nd wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and one sister. She is survived by one daughter Linda (Gary) Robertson of Huber Heights; one son Steve (Renay) Compton of Nashville, TN; one sister Edna Clark of Sugarcreek Twp.; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday Sept. 27 at 11:00am at the Vandalia Baptist Temple 724 Helke Rd. with Pastor Rick Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Wednesday evening from 5-8pm.
