DRURY, Mary Alice age 87, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 in Winfield, IL. Mary Alice was a resident of Vandalia for 53 years before spending her last 4 years in Glen Ellyn, IL with her family. She was a graduate of Greenhills High School in Greenhills, OH and earned her Nursing Degree in 1946 from Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati. Mary Alice practiced as a nurse for over 30 years, working at the Veterans Hospital in Dayton, Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy as well as Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. Following her retirement, she worked as an airport screening agent at the Dayton International Airport for four years. Preceded in death by her mother, Martha (Moore) Helm and father, Henry Cowgill Helm, her husband, Robert Lester Drury; brother, Catlett Helm, sister-in-law, Laura Helm and son-in-law, Prescott Snyder, Mary Alice is survived by her children, Patricia (Drury) Snyder and Janice (Drury) Rogers; her brother, Charles Helm (Carol); grandchildren, Alycia (Rogers) Mason (Patrick), Ashley (Rogers) Robart (Matt), Derek Snyder (Ashley) and Joel Snyder; and great-grandchildren, Addison Mason and Campbell Mason. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 6, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in Mary Alice's memory.
