Mary E. Martin

MARTIN, Mary E., age 88 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born September 7, 1922 in Dayton, daughter of the late Elmer & Stella (Mikels) Fowler. Mary was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church and was a life member of the VFW Post #9582 Ladies Auxiliary. Preceded in death by her husband, Morris Lee Martin, 1 daughter, Donna Gilliland and 1 son, Micheal Anders, Mary is survived by her 6 children, Harry Anders Sr.; Charles & wife, Sue Anders, and Butch Martin, all of Vandalia; Linda K. Hellman of Englewood, Mary Lee Roder & husband, James & Rebecca L. White & husband, Charles, all of Vandalia; 1 sister, Nellie Sullivan of Dayton; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, February 14 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. Private family graveside will be held. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dayton Area Heart Association in Marys memory.
