Mary C. McMonigle
Age 76, of Englewood, passed away Monday, July 18, at Good Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Mary was born March 11, 1940 in Dayton to the late Benjamin & Elma (Wittig) Hagens. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, Conrad E. McMonigle, who passed in 2011; one brother, Richard Hagens and by one infant daughter, Connie.
Mary was a member of the VFW Post # 5434 Ladies Auxiliary; the founder & previous owner of Englewood Florist, co-owner of Northwoods Realty; and former owner of Gold Medal Travel Agency.
She is survived by her husband of the past 1 ½ years, Henry Hauss; her three daughters, Marsha Van Norman (Brent), Gloria Nelund (Dave), & Melissa McMonigle (Mark Huddleson); three grandchildren, David, Morgan, Chad (Paige), and Henry’s daughter and grandchildren, Kim Thurman (Paul), Josh & Zack; and by her extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., Thursday (7/21) at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Graveside services will be held at 3:45 p.m. at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia and all are welcome to attend. Following the graveside service, family & friends are encouraged to gather at 5:00 p.m. for a meal, fellowship and a celebration of Mary’s life at the VFW Post # 5434, 116 N. Main St., Union, OH 45322.
