SAYLOR, Mary Lucy age 80 of Vandalia, passed away Monday October 4, 2010 at her residence following an illness. She was born August 17, 1930 in Twila (Harlan Co.) KY daughter of the late Allan & Lillie (Hensley) Burke. Lucy was a retired employee of Bob Evans Restaurants with 25 years of service. She attended the Vandalia Christian Tabernacle and dearly loved bluegrass music and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer G. Saylor, one grandson David Abney and 5 brothers. She is survived by 3 daughters Brenda Ward, Janet & husband Robert Abney, and Annette Saylor; one son Duane & wife Mary Saylor; one brother James Burke; 2 sisters Anna Collett and Naomi Blanton; brother-in-law George Burl Saylor; 5 grandchildren Matt Ogden, Michael Ward, Joshua Saylor, Carla Abney, and Jamie Saylor; one step-grandson Michael Mowrer; 5 great-grandchildren Blake, Abbi, Emily, Luke, Kaiden, and a host of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 9 at 2:00pm at the Vandalia Christian Tabernacle 836 S. Brown School Rd. with Pastor Todd Hoskins officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Friday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Dayton in Lucys memory.
