CARPENTER, Maurice age 90 of West Milton, passed away Wednesday May 17, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Maurice was born August 3, 1926 in Jackson, KY son of the late Dewey & Sylvia (Fugate) Carpenter. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of First Baptist Church of Vandalia. Maurice was a retired employee of Apex Machine & Tool with 46 years of service and was a member of West Milton Lodge 577 F&AM. Preceded in death by his sister Nellie Bellomy, Maurice is survived by his wife of 65 Years Joyce Carpenter; one son Steve (Nancy) Carpenter; 2 daughters Cheryl Carpenter and Karen (Doug) Curry; 4 grandchildren Holly (Dave) Truscott, Amy (Wyatt) Garcia, Austin Carpenter, Logan Carpenter; 4 great-grandchildren Reagan, Dylan, Evan, Gibson; nieces and nephews Michael (Sharon) Clemons, Cindy (Roger) Walker, Pat (Angie) Gibson, Lori (Jamie) Hudson. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 20 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church 140 Elva Ct. Vandalia with Pastor David Starry officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00am until time of the service at 1:00pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund in Maurice’s memory.
