Melvin F Wendeln

WENDELN, Melvin F., age 82, of Tipp City, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Springmeade Healthcare Center. He was born December 15, 1926 in Minster, OH, son of the late Henry & Florence (Weghorst) Wendeln. Melvin was a retired Product Planning Manager with the A.O. Smith Corporation, was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Minster High School, earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton in 1950 and his MBA in 1970, also from the University of Dayton. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen (Studer); 2 sons, Thomas & wife, Stavroula Wendeln of FL, and Timothy & wife, Donice Wendeln of AZ; 2 daughters, Christine Miller & husband, James of GA and Patricia & husband, Bruce Truhlar of IL; 1 brother, Donald Wendeln & wife, Lavine of Dayton; 3 sisters, Jane Wilker of Celina, Marian Meyers of Cincinnati and JoAnn Albers & husband, Robert of North Star; 5 grandchildren, Caitlyn, Raymond, Randall, Jason and Tiffany, numerous other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, April 29 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until time of service. The family requests donations be made to the St. Christopher Catholic Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of Miami County in Melvins memory. The family would like to offer special thanks to Melvins Care Angels and the wonderful staff at Springmeade for all the compassionate and loving care they provided Mel and his family, along with the caring and supportive staff of Hospice of Miami County.
