Merle E Wampler

June 7, 1925 — March 5, 2009

WAMPLER, Merle E., age 83 of Butler Twp. passed away Thursday March 5, 2009 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born June 7, 1925 in Brookville, son of the late Charles & Sarah (Rawl) Wampler. Merle was a graduate of Brookville High School, was a member of the 4-H Club, and was a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Christian Life Center. He had been a life insurance agent with Columbia National Insurance Co. and worked as a host at the China Coast, Red Lobster, and Olive Garden restaurants in Dayton and Florida. Merle was preceded in death by an infant daughter Judith Ann. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Betty F. (Roof) Wampler; 2 daughters Joye Lynn Stier of Butler Twp., and Nancy Jo Lutz of Springfield; one son Wayne E. & wife Alexandra Wampler of Sieverville, TN; one sister Miriam L. Horning of WI; 6 grandchildren Wayne Wampler Jr, Wayde Wampler, Marla Morgan, Nicole Tighe, April Lundgren, Michael Wampler; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 7 (TODAY) at 1:00pm at the Christian Life Center 3489 Little York Rd. Dayton, OH 45414 with Pastor Stan Tharpe officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00am until time of service TODAY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christian Life Center for the Nursing Home Visitation Outreach or to the Childrens Rescue Center P.O. Box 3057 Springfield, OH 45501 in Merles memory. Arrangements in care of Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home Vandalia.
