Michael A. Ciani

November 8, 1929 — April 26, 2018

Michael A. Ciani, 88, was called to his eternal reward on Thursday, April 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Samuel Ciani, his step daughter Tracey Hilfman and his step son Steve Young. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara, his children, Samuel A. (Mary) Ciani of Texas and Diane (Jeffrey) Carlson of Beavercreek and; step daughter Lisa Young of Tipp City, 10 grand children and 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Anthony Ciani of Dayton, Samuel (Patricia) Ciani of Centerville, Frank (Mary Ann) Ciani of Kettering and Lucy (Thomas) Wolfe of Tipp City.

Michael is a Chaminade High School graduate. As a young man Michael loved softball. He played on several softball teams in Dayton and umpired softball as well. He was a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed participating in Fantasy Baseball. Later in life he took up tennis and continued to play until the last couple of years of his life. He and Barb faithfully attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dayton where he ushered for many years. Michael proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He began his professional career at McCall Printing Company and McCall Information Services Company, assuming executive positions in each corporation. Ultimately, he founded his own highly successful business, Specialized Fulfillment Services, which continues today to prosper after his retirement and sale of the business. Michael passed after a lengthy illness and spent his final days at Hospice of Dayton where he received unbelievably tender, loving care.

Visitation will be from 9 until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Downtown Dayton prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to St. Joseph Church or to Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements have been made by Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home in Vandalia.
