Michael J. Lentz
Passed away peacefully at Hearth and Home of Vandalia on Monday, June 28, 2021.
Born March 1, 1958, he was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Lentz; mother, Joan Sloan Lentz; and brother-in-law, Richard Maclean.
Mike graduated from Chaminade Julienne High School and obtained his Associate Degree of Applied Science from Sinclair Community College, and his Associate Degree of Science Management and Bachelor of Science in Management/Health Care from Park College. He was a former Madison Twp. Fireman (Badge # 109) and employed with PSA Airlines.
Mike was an over 15-year kidney transplant recipient. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Klein, Dr. Kaufhold and Missy who were always incredibly supportive with the challenges transplant recipients endure and especially grateful for the house call visit from Dr. Kaufhold at the rehab facility. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Donna and her staff at Hearth and Home for making Michael’s last days peaceful and where he knew he was loved.
Mike was honest, sincere, generous, loved his family and friends deeply and touched many lives along his life journey. Mike had an incredible eye thru his camera lens and captured images from wildlife, especially bears, nature from flowers to beautiful sunsets and beaches, NASCAR and Indy car racing, airplanes such as the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels and he was an avid Notre Dame fan.
The family will be receiving friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 1, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Andrew Smith at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
