Michael Sims

Michael Edwin Sims of Dayton, Ohio passed away Sunday August 14, 2022.  Mike was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 29, 1949 son of Glenn and Margaret Kathleen Sims.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Sims, father, Glenn Sims, mother, Kathleen Sims and his sister, Olivia Lane.

Mike graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1967. He retired from the City of Kettering as Parks Supervisor in 2003 after a 30-year career.  Mike was also a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge F&AM #729 in Kettering.

Mike always had a deep passion for fishing, boating, hunting, shooting, motorcycles, NASCAR, and raising his beloved Plott Hounds and other furry family members. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends more than anything. His Grandchildren and Great grandchildren were his pride and joy!  He was a mentor to those that knew him, and his kindness, patience, compassion and integrity were unmatched.

Mike is survived by his brother, Gerald Sims, stepmother, Barbara Sims, son, Greg Sims (Vicki), daughter Lisa Perry (Kevin), son, John Bair (Dorothy); grandchildren, Breanne Rainwater (Tony), Shelby Jackson (Mike), Paige Tanaka, Amanda Krajkowski (Matt), Ashley O’neal (Jacob); 8 great-grandchildren, Emma and Harper Rainwater, Tony and Wesley Jackson, Ainsley Krajkowski and Ayla, Jaxson and Jarrett O’Neal; nephew, Colin Lane (Jennifer), niece, Courtney Bolton (Philip), several great nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Otis!

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday August 23rd at 11 am at Aley United Methodist Church, 4143 Kemp Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45431 with Pastor Bill Halter officiating.   Inurnment will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.  In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Foundation in Mike’s memory.  Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, Ohio.
