DANIEL, Mysti Dawn, 49, of Dayton. In the sweet silence of a new day dawning and with the background of the assurance from the sound of her favorite hymns surrounding her, peace and comfort came for Mysti Dawn Daniel, releasing her from a lifetime of physical and medical challenges, including her last lengthy stay at The Ohio State University Medical Center. No one could have fought with more determination and pure stubbornness to hold on to life than did Mysti until that early morning of March 15, 2025. No one has transitioned to the next part of the eternal journey with more dignity than her.
She entered into life on January 11, 1976, the daughter of Edward and Sue Daniel of Dayton. A graduate of Meadowdale High School, she is survived by her step-mother Tina Daniel; sisters, Ashley Daniel Phillips (Dave) and Abby Daniel Love (Nick); nieces, Aubrey Love and Adelyn Phillips; nephew, Lincoln Love; aunt and uncle, Judy and Paul Leasure; an array of Daniel family cousins; and her caretakers and friends at the Stillwater Center who challenged, supported and embraced her every step of the way during the last years of her life as a valued and respected member of their family.
She was full of mischief, lessons learned well from her father while just a little girl. Few escaped her wicked sense of humor. She could communicate more with her facial expressions than most can with words. Her face would light up when she smiled and she could fill a room with the sound of her laughter. But beware the “evil eye” when the frown would come and her eyes would narrow to that look for those who dared displease her. While others cringed, she laughed at horror movies. Purple was her favorite color and how she did enjoy being pampered. Like so many of the things she shared with her father, she loved the same old hymns that he loved. She and her uncle Paul shared a love of tye-dye shirts. She was a teacher until that last early morning. Many of the Ohio State medical staff and students she taught very early on…don’t speak around me and about me…speak with me and to me. And don’t put the television on the cartoon channel!
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 20, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, with a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. While Mysti enjoyed flowers, she would be honored to have donations made in her name in support of her Stillwater family, Stillwater Center, 8100 North Main Street, Dayton, OH 45405.
