GOFORTH, Opal Jean, 84,of Vandalia died May 18, 2012, after battling cancer with her children by her side. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, August 16, 1927. Jean attended Kiser High School and worked for A.O. Smith. She enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards and working puzzles. Preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow; daughter, Rita Spicer; parents, Harrison and Rosalie Linville; brother Freddy Linville; sister Susan Lawson. She is survived by 3 children and spouses, Kenneth & Terri Goforth, Becky & Doug Longenecker, RoseAnn & Glenn Lupton; 2 sisters Kay Linville and Shirley Schoen; 6 grandchildren Michelle McKinney, Lisa Kurzawa, Bradley Lupton, Renee Palmer, Christina Shellabarger, A.J. Spicer, and 11 great grandchildren Sarah McKinney, Garrison Lupton, Sydney Timmer, Shelby Timmer, Tyler McKinney, Adam McKinney, Justin Palmer, Lily Palmer, Dylan Kurzawa, Giovanni Spicer, Olivia Shellabarger. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 23 at 10:00am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Mrs. Goforths memory.
