Paul D. Wood

WOOD, Paul Daniel, age 65 of Vandalia, passed away unexpectedly January 21, 2022.  Paul was born June 8, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Medgitt K. & Garnet A. (Bartram) Wood.  Paul served his country in the U.S. Army and was proud to have been a journalist for 4 years and 6 months during his time stateside and in Germany.  He also served as an NBC specialist for 9 months.

Paul was an avid angler who truly enjoyed fishing for crappie, his favorite fish.  He loved to read, work crossword puzzles and enjoyed eating out with family.   Paul was one of the good guys, and he will be greatly missed!

Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Medgitt K. Wood, Jr., James L. Wood (Phyllis), Robert R. Wood (Gail), Joseph H. Wood (Eunice), David M. Wood (Cindy); sister, Janet P. Madison (Paul), Paul is survived by his brother, Donald E. Wood (Dianna) and sister, Betty M. Carter; along with many beloved nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.    Paul did say that his favorite niece was “Star”, AKA Dinner the Jack Russell.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 am until time of service.  Interment will follow at Dayton National Cemetery at 2:00 pm with military honors.
