Phyllis June Wasser

WASSER, Phyllis June, (McNeil) age 81 of Clayton, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born January 26, 1926 in Dayton, OH daughter of the late Fred & Leona Fern (Bayless) Crawford. Phyllis was a longtime member of the Polk Grove United Church of Christ. She was employed as an Inspector at ACME Screw Products, served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Concord Farms Association, was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and ran the concession stand at the Overlook Mutual Homes Baseball Park for many years. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, Thomas Hank and Charles Pete Crawford, Phyllis is survived by 1 daughter, Sharon Abner (Gary) of Union; 3 sons, Charles McNeil of Dayton, Lewis Steele (Carolyn), and Robert Steele of San Andreas, CA; 1 sister, Lois Haas; 9 grandchildren, Cindy, Michael, Jeffery, Gary, Brian, Corey, Heather, Robert Jr., Steven; 3 step-grandchildren Debbie, Steve, and Chris; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Thursday July 26 at Polk Grove United Church of Christ 9190 Frederick Pike with Rev. John Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Polk Grove Church Memorial Fund in Phylliss memory.
