RC Griffith

January 24, 1937-December 29, 2018

RC Griffith, age 81 passed away on December 29, 2018 reuniting with the love of his life, Patsy Griffith. He was born and raised in a small holler of Canoe, KY and raised by his Aunt Lillie and Uncle Richard Griffith. He married Patsy on May 6, 1955 and moved to Dayton Ohio. They were high school sweethearts and got married before Prom at the ages of 17 and 19. Their marriage of 63 years was an inspiration to everyone who knew them. He was a retiree of General Motors/Inland of 36 years. He was an active member of the Moraine City First Church of God.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Patsy (Gabbard) Griffith; daughter Pauline Griffith Winkle; Mother Polly (Turner) Spicer; Father, Kelly Griffith, sister, Adda Carol Richards, Aunt Lillie (Turner) Griffith; Uncle Richard Griffith; step father George Spicer.

RC is survived by his brother Pat (Betty) Hollan, his children Butch (Judy) Griffith and Carole (Paul) White and grandchildren Ashlee (David) Thompson, Nicholas (Emily) Winkle, Richie (Kristen) Griffith, Dan (Sarah) Griffith, John Griffith, and Anastasia White and great grandchildren Hannah Thompson, Vannessa Thompson, Kaylee Winkle, Sophia Winkle, Cameron Winkle, Peyton Griffith, Karlee Griffith, Owen Griffith, Blake Vedder, Raegan Griffith-Burchfield, Theodore Griffith. He is survived by his special nephew, Christopher (Christina) Hollan and Joey Hollan.

RC did not know a stranger. At church and in Jackson, KY, RC was a member of the “Liar’s bench” famous for storytelling and being a prankster. RC had a special niche for remembering birthdates, death dates and ages of friends and family. It wasn’t uncommon for his peers to call him and ask how old someone was, who was married to whom, who was kin to whom. He was a book of Who’s Who. RC was quite a joker. He was well known by his doctors to ask for a note to get out of “housework chores” and most complied. RC loved to tend to his vegetable garden and was well known for his fried chicken and dumplings.

Although we are sad he is no longer beside us, we know he is home in heaven with his family and friends in the loving arms of Jesus.
