Rachel R. (Laughter) Mellor

MELLOR, Rachel Rae Mellor (Laughter) Age 44, of Tipp City passed away, Sunday, June 22, 2014, after a strong battle with cancer. Rachel was born December 3, 1969 in Dayton, OH. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rebekah (Beckie) Laughter-Meade; stepdaughter, Tiffany Mellor; and mother-in-law, June Mellor. She is survived by her husband, Stu; her loving cat, Harley; parents, Bob and Judy Laughter; father-in-law, Hal Mellor; brother and sister-in-law, Rob and Mary Laughter; brother-in-law and wife, Chris and Donna Meade; niece, Casey Laughter; nephews, David Gross, Jake Meade, Ben Meade and some very special cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. A memorial service will be held on July 12, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, 140 Elva Court, at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour before services begin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice. Rachel and her husband, Stu, were over-the-road truck drivers and drove as a team for 10 years. She had ridden with him for 1.5 years before she decided to learn to drive the big rigs herself. They drove through all but 2 states - Maine and N. Dakota of the contiguous United States. She often talked about the many beautiful sights they saw of this country. They moved to Florida for a period of time and eventually settled in Tipp City so Rachel could be with her family. Rachel went to worked for MAC in Vandalia until she started her chemo and was no longer able to work. Rachel loved life, family, friends and animals - particularly Harley. She was a "believer" and knew that if she didn't beat the cancer, she would be with Beckie, Stu's daughter - Tiffany, her grandparents and loved ones in heaven.God had his love wrapped around her and she was at peace when she left this world.
