Ramo Paradiso

Ramo Paradiso Age 81, of Columbus, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on August 19, 1933 to Italian immigrants, John and Rosina (Zamparelli) Paradiso. He graduated from the Indiana State School for the Deaf. He served for many years as president of the Dayton Catholic Deaf Club and also served as President of the Ohio Association of the Deaf Dayton District # 6 and the Nevada Association of the Deaf. He was a former member of the National Association of the Deaf. He received the Golden Hand Award from the NAD for his service in Nevada. He retired in 1988 from the Dayton Daily News after 28 years of service in the composing department. He is survived by his wife of the past 60 years, Mary; children, Brenda (Joe) Hand of Huber Heights, Andrew (Carol) Paradiso of New Carlisle, Mark Paradiso of Vandalia; grandchildren, Angie (Jeff) Runyon, Nick (Angie) Paradiso of New Carlisle, Dominic Paradiso of Vandalia, Chris (Karyn) Cochran and Timberly (Joey) Clauss; great grandchildren, Brooke and Parker Diviak, Jeff, Jr. Runyon, Hayley and Ally Paradiso, Justin and Emily Cochran; brother, Perry (Shirley) Paradiso of San Anselmo, California and sister, Joann (Jerry) Eaton of Grand Blanc, Michigan; and by nieces and nephews. Ramo was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Lauer of Richmond and grandson, Mark Cochran. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday (12/8) at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to either the Columbus (OH) Colony for Elderly Care or to the Alzheimer's Association.
