FLEISCHMAN, Ray A. Jr. age 79 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Hospice of Butler & Warren County. He was born September 12, 1930 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Ray A. Sr. & Mary C. (Esterly) Fleischman. Ray graduated from Jefferson Township High School where he played varsity basketball and football. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from DP&L with 38 years of service. He spent his retirement years working for the City of Vandalia Parks & Recreation Department for 16 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns and sports of all kinds. He was a former member of the Rhythm Ballroom Dance Club, the Circle Eight Square Dance Club and the Grand Squares Square Dance Club. Ray was also a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church, was Past-President of the Vandalia Senior Citizens Center and he always enjoyed his many friends, both old and new. Preceded in death by his 4 sisters, Christina Fletcher, Mildred Huber , Hester Lowe & Margaret Isaacs, 1 brother, George & 2 nieces, Amy Middleton & Carol Forrest, Ray is survived by his wife Dona (Olt); 2 daughters, Rebecca Fleischman & Julie Hannan (David); 1 son, Daniel R. Fleischman (Mary); his favorite grandson, Jesse Ian Hannan; his nieces, Vicki Dack (Ezra), Gail Hanger (Jay), Della Carr & Donna Phillabaum; his nephew, John Fletcher (Joyce); and numerous other relatives and special friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate Rays life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 10 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the service. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Vandalia United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 in Rays memory. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
