HICKS, Raymond L., age 79 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Miami Valley Hospital. Ray was born May 26, 1941 in Middlesboro,
Kentucky, son of the late Roy & Mary (Thomas) Hicks. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a caring neighbor and friend. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He worked for 35 years in the Maintenance Department at Miami Valley Hospital and knew that hospital from sub-tunnels to roof like the back of his hand. He was a member of Vandalia Baptist Temple for 37 years, and served as a trustee for many of those years. He enjoyed deer hunting, chopping firewood, eating a good steak, hanging out at the Waffle House, and more than anything in the world, being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Jane Ellen (Vordemark) Hicks, his daughter Paulette Hicks, His son Eric Hicks and his wife Jennifer (Maguire) Hicks and their children Amelia, Eric, Molly, and Lucy. He is also survived by his brother Charles Hicks, and his sister Dolores (Hicks) Barton. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy & Mary (Thomas) HIcks, his brother Thurman Hicks, and brother Elmer Hicks.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 21 at the Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Rd., Vandalia with Pastor Rick Washburn officiating. Interment to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening from 5-7 pm, and also again on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until time of service. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
