Raymond F Johnston

JOHNSTON, Raymond F. Moose age 74 of Bethel Twp., Miami County, passed away January 13, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Caribou, ME, son of the late Glenn W. & Lola (Miller) Johnston. Raymond retired from the US Postal Service after 37 years of service and was a 4-year veteran of the US Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the VFW #9582, the AmVets Post #99, Eagles 2201 and a member of American Legion #586. Ray also served proudly in the VFW & AmVets Honor Guards. Preceded in death by his parents & 1 brother, Granville Johnston, Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara; a loving daughter, Glenda & husband, Gordon Tron; and grandchildren, Jeffrey & Jennifer of Casstown; sisters, Glenna Soderburg of CT, Thelma Ward of NC, Janet McDonald of ME; and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 16 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Ronald Harjarian officiating. Burial will follow at Casstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 -7:30 pm.
