PIERCY, Rebecca L., age 70 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019. She was born December 7, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Gerald and Mary Alice (Lofton) Sharp. Rebecca was a graduate of Columbus Brookhaven High School, Class of 1966, earned a Bachelors Degree from Cedarville University, Class of 1971 and a Master” Degree from Walden University. She retired from Dayton Public Schools with over 30 years of service as a teacher. Rebecca enjoyed gardening, watching the Home Shopping Network and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her brother, Danny Joe Sharp, Rebecca is survived by her husband of 39 years, James Piercy of Vandalia; 2 children, Stefan Piercy of Maryville, Tennessee and Jillian Holtvoigt (Ben) of Huber Heights; her brother, Jerry Sharp (Ying) of Glendale, CA; four grandchildren, Olivia Ann Piercy, Allison LeeAnn Piercy, Mason Sharp Piercy and Jack James Holtvoigt; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 pm, Friday, April 26 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until time of service. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center, 6790 Webster Street, Dayton, Ohio 45414 in Rebecca’s memory.
