DEAL, Richard B., age 82 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born October 10, 1931 in Covington, OH, son of the late Ernest & Katharine (Johnston) Deal. Dick was a graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School, Class of 1951 and attended Miami University and the University of Dayton. He also attended the F.B.I. National Academy in 1973. He retired as Inspector from the Montgomery County Sheriffs office where he proudly served from 1959 to 1990. Dick was a member of the Buckeye State Sheriffs Association, attended Polk Grove Church for 64 years, was a Butler Township Volunteer Fireman and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Mason, a music teacher and an avid snowmobiler. Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; one son, Duane Deal (Patricia), two daughters, Dawn Callison (Dennis), and Della Schemmel (Mark); grandchildren, Amber Thomas (Tim), Aaron Deal (Jennifer), Richard Callison, Bethany Hoehn (Dustin), Markus Schemmel, great-grandchildren, Abbey, Andrew, Anna, Jenna, Alanna, Eli, & Jessica, along with a host of other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 22 at Polk Grove United Church of Christ, 9190 Frederick Pike with Pastor Aaron Deal officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association in Richards memory.
