Richard Miller
“Dick”
Age 74, of The Villages, FL, previously of Brookville, OH, was called home to his final resting place in heaven on July 14, 2017.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Brenda “DeeDee” Miller and by his parents, Carl “Bud” and Gertrude Miller.
He is survived by his daughter, Jayne Miller-Ash; granddaughter, Jana Ash-Hernandez (Frank); sister, Helen Joan Klopfenstein; nephews, Robert Klopfenstein Jr (Tammy) and Michael Klopfenstein; niece, Stacie Orr (Butch); great-nephews, Dalton and Wyatt Orr; special friend, Patricia Lutz and by a host of other family and friends.
Richard was a proud and Humble Mason for over 50 years, belonging to Millennium Lodge # 779. He graduated from Millersburg Military Academy and the University of Dayton. He was also recruited by Eastern Kentucky and Alabama for his athletic talent in football, basketball, and baseball. He played for the Dayton Colts semi-pro football team. Dick retired from Phillips Industry in Dayton after 24 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday (7/28) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville. The family will be receiving friends from 12 Noon until time of service.
