In Loving Memory of Eric "Rick" Leslie Klopfer
October 9, 1947 – March 31, 2025
Eric "Rick" Leslie Klopfer, 77, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Born on October 9, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, Rick was the beloved son of the late Leslie Klopfer and the late Loretta Hughes. He graduated from Northridge High School in 1965, where he stood out as an athlete — especially on the baseball diamond — talents he carried with pride and joy throughout his life.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Claudia, and their children: Christopher Klopfer, Eric Klopfer (Kristen), and Samantha Bauer (Lucas). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Nicholas Klopfer, Harper Klopfer, Beckett Klopfer, Elton Klopfer, Olsen Bauer, and Leona Bauer.
He is also survived by his brother Joe Hughes, stepbrother Edward Klopfer, and stepsister Jayne Morgan, along with extended family and many dear friends. Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Klopfer Theil.
Rick lived a life full of heart, humor, and connection. His greatest joys were found on the beach and in the music he loved. Whether it was the soft rhythm of waves or the pulse of live drums, Rick felt most alive in these moments. The beaches of Florida held a special place in his heart throughout his life — a space where he could relax, reflect, and enjoy the simple beauty of the world around him.
A true music lover, Rick had a passion for attending live music venues and supporting local bands. From intimate shows to larger concerts, he cherished the energy, the community, and the soundtrack they provided to so many memories with family and friends.
Rick was also a lifelong sports fan, always rooting for the Cincinnati Reds and the Bengals, and never missing a chance to attend the games and sporting events of his children, grandchildren, and friends. He was a loyal presence on the sidelines and in the stands — a cheerleader for those he loved.
He was a dedicated gym-goer, starting most mornings with his "gym friends," who became a tight-knit community all their own. Rick also loved to fish with friends and family and enjoyed disc golfing across Ohio — another way he stayed active and connected to nature and those around him.
Rick’s warmth, loyalty, and quiet humor left a lasting impact. He had a gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and cared for — and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the joy of knowing him.
