Rita Slayton

SLAYTON, Rita C., age 95 of Fairborn, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019. She was born May 9, 1923 in Monongah, West Virginia, daughter of the late Thomas and Ollie (Boone) Rogers. Rita was a longtime member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, John Slayton, one daughter, Donna Rieman and nine brothers and sisters, Rita is survived by her sons, Tracy Slayton (Sandy) of Fairborn and Joel Slayton (Lisa) of San Jose, CA; 6 grandchildren, Kim, Tammy, Chris, Zach, Zeb, and Zoe; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, March 5 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Rita’s memory.
