Robert E. "Bob" Ambos
Age 87 of Union, passed away Thursday November 14, 2019 at Grandview Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born December 30, 1931 in Dayton, OH son of the late Louis & Christina Ambos.
Bob was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retired lineman from AT&T with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Knollwood Lodge F&AM, was a former Golden Glove boxer from Old North Dayton, was a “regular” at Jim’s Donut Shop and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Juanita; one brother James Ambos and 2 sisters Charlotte Schultz and Shirley Welch.
He is survived by his children Michael Ambos, Bobby & wife Jennifer Ambos, Debbie & husband Roy Hensley, Kimberly Ambos and husband David Fogtman; 8 grandchildren London, Stacey, Dylan, Jacob, Benjamin, Seth, Ethan, Ella, and numerous great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 19 at 1:00 pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Mike Malcosky officiating. Burial will follow at Willowview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
