JACOBS, Robert C., Bob age 68, of Butler Twp., passed away peacefully at Miami Shores of Moraine Monday, March 17, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Throughout his courageous battle over the past 2 years, Bob demonstrated to us his fighting spirit and just what a truly amazing man he was. Bob was born February 18, 1940 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Edward J. & Cora A. (Bell) Jacobs. He was a longtime local business owner where he joyously served as President/CEO of Jacobs Telephone Contractors for over 23 years. Bob proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 through 1966. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Good Guys Association, he loved cars and was an avid auto racing fan. Preceded in death by 1 brother, Thomas Jacobs; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Val & Alberta Horvath; Bob is survived by his loving and supporting wife of 40 years, Joanne (Horvath) of Butler Twp; his 4 caring, devoted and thoughtful sons, Jeffrey R. Jacobs & wife, Milissa of Indianapolis, Michael S. Jacobs & wife, Gina of Vandalia, Robert J. Jacobs & wife, Anne of Troy and Steven E. Jacobs of Butler Twp.; 9 beautiful grandchildren, Nathan, Ian, Brooke, Samuel, Adam, Charlie, A.J., Elizabeth, & Christian; 1 brother, Ronald Jacobs of Dayton; 1 sister, Carole Abele & husband, Joe of Englewood; 1 sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Kathy & Larry Kowal of SC and numerous loving relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 25, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Private interment ceremony will be held by family. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Monday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517 or to the American Heart Association in Bobs memory. The Jacobs family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Miami Shores for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Bob throughout his illness. Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His compassionate and generous spirit continues to live on through the many lives he touched while he was with us.
