DUNGAN, Robert H. Bob , age 91 0f Vandalia, passed away Monday October 26, 2009 at the Troy Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 15, 1918 in Paris, TN, son of the late Robert & Nina (Holdman) Dungan. Bob was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran with the 82nd Airborne Division Artillery from April 1942 to September 1945 and was a retired accountant from Industrial Grinding Inc. Bob was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church, the Vandalia Senior Citizens, Sister Cites of Vandalia, VFW Post #9582, and the Matthew B. Ridgeway Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was preceded in death by his wife Corrinne in 1978 and 3 brothers Neil, Charles, and Miller Dungan. Bob is survived by 2 daughters Mary (Robert) Beck, and Sandra Dungan all of Vandalia; one son Robert (Debbie) Dungan of West Carrollton; one brother Don Dungan of TX; 5 grandchildren Lisa (David) Noble of Tipp City, Lori (William) Miller of Vandalia, Robert Dungan of FL, Richard (Alina) Dungan of FL, Nicole Dungan of FL; 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday October 29 at 1:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Assoc. in Bobs memory. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Troy Care & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Bob during his illness.
