Gibbs, Robert Lee was the son of the Late John A. Gibbs and Emma (Combs) Gibbs and Stepmother Mable (Spicer) Gibbs. He was born on December 27, 1941 in Daysboro, Wolfe Co., Ky. He departed this life on December 1, 2020 at the age of 78 yrs. 11 months and 26 days. On April 26, 1963 he was united in marriage to Wanda L. (Scowden) who preceded him in death. Two children were, born, one son, one daughter and one grandson. The Loved ones he left behind are his children John K. Gibbs of Vandalia, OH, Paula Gibbs-Licher of Vandalia, OH and Cameron J. Gibbs and his wife Kayla Gibbs of Vandalia, OH. Whom he loved very much.
On January 31, 2010. He married his second wife Sharon “Penny” Helton Gibbs who lives in Wolfe Co., KY. Two stepsons, Derek Wall of West Liberty, KY. And Jeremy Wall and finance Tonya L. Oney of Salyersville, KY. And one step grandson, Troy Kayden Wall of Morehead, KY.
Robert was a member of the Bloomington United Baptist Church since 2010 where he was an active member and assistant treasurer of the congregation. Brother Russell Dingus will be officiating and Brother Paul Brown with read the obituary in Kentucky.
Robert was preceded in death by his brother, John Micheal Gibbs of Wolfe Co. Ky and his widower Mary Kathern Gibbs. Nine brother-in-laws. Marvin Music, Jim Leyes, Carlos Herman, Wayne Williams, Merle Adkins. John Lemaster, Darrel Back, Wayne Helton and Jack Helton. He was also proceeded in death by two brother in-laws Paul “Buster” Scowden and Harold Collinsworth. Eight sister-in-laws, Judy Scowden, Nancy Herman, Brenda Williams, Dora Howard, Judy Howard, Angie Lemaster, Susan Back and Naomi Helton; also proceeded by three sister in-laws Elizabeth “Sis” (Scowden) Music, Carol (Scowden) Leyes and Barbara Collinsworth; six nephews, Chris Leyes, Jonathan Scowden, Jeremy Scowden, Andrew Williams, Matt Herman and Jared Williams. He left two nieces Jessica (Gibbs) Cline, Marti (Music) Smallwood and one niece was proceeded in death, Rebecca L. (Gibbs) Hatten. True friend, Gary Dunn and numerous family members, cousins and friends.
Family relative Greg Beasley will say final thoughts & prayers at the gravesite in Ohio.
There will be two funeral services one Porter & Sons in Campton, KY. Visitation will be held Wednesday Dec. 3 from 6pm to 9pm and Friday at 10am. Second visitation service will be held on Saturday Dec. 5 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia from 11am till 2pm. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. All local services entrusted to the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home.
