Roger Dale King Sr.

April 29, 1943 — November 20, 2016

KING, Roger Dale Sr. age 73 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday November 20, 2016 at the Crossroads Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. Roger was born April 29, 1943 in Dayton Ohio. He was a retired inspector from Delco Moraine. Roger was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia and was a Neighborhood Watch coordinator with the Vandalia Police for many years. He was recognized by the Vandalia Police and received the Outstanding Citizen Award. Roger enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending his time outdoors. He was an avid guitar player and he loved music. Roger was a kind-hearted man who dearly loved to help other people. One of his greatest pleasures was rooting for his beloved OSU Buckeyes to whom he was a true fan. Roger was preceded in death by his mother Lou and step-father Bernard Cleveland, one brother Robert King and one sister Sue Foley. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Patricia; 2 sons Roger D. King Jr, and DeWayne & wife Kim Hopping; one sister Bonnie Konicki and 6 grandchildren. It was Rogers wish to help others in life and upon his death he donated his body to Wright State University School of Medicine in the hopes that he could continue to help others in the future. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held Monday November 28 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church 140 Elva Ct Vandalia with John Seagraves officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association in Roger’s memory.
