Ronald Macy

MACY, Ronald E. Ron age 72, of Vandalia, passed away unexpectedly from an illness Monday, July 30, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born May 12, 1935 in West Milton, OH, son of the late Elden & Dora (Deeter) Macy. Ron retired from McCalls/Dayton Press and was employed as a legal assistant with Joyce A. Rollert, Attorney at Law. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict, was very active in the Sertoma Club where he served as past president and held all other local offices. Ron also earned the Sertoman of the Year honor. He was a star athlete at West Milton High School where he lettered in every sport. You could always find a jigsaw puzzle on Rons table, he was a wonderful cook and had the biggest heart, giving freely to anyone in need. Ron is survived by his longtime companion, Joyce A. Rollert of Vandalia; 2 daughters, Ginger E. Ravine (Jack) of AZ and Sherry D. Gale (John) of Franklin; 1 son, John E. Macy; 6 grandchildren, Tane Ravine, Nicole Ravine, Dawson Gale, Delaney Gale, Justin Macy and Mackenzie Graham; 1 sister, Joann Sexton (Ron) of Tipp City; 1 brother, Richard Macy (Barbara) of MO; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 2, at the Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Rd., with Rev. Randy Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in West Milton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sertoma Club or to the Vandalia Baptist Temple in Rons memory.
