Rosemary Davis

Age 98, formerly of Vandalia passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Rosemary was born July 29, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Jacob C. & Cecelia B. (Sommer) Nagel. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Davis, Jr., in 2009; one infant son, William Gregory Davis, in 1952; and by one brother, Harold Nagel.

Rosemary was a former member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia where she and her husband were founding members. She was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society with both churches.

Rosemary is survived by five children, Joseph P. & his wife, Cindy, Stephen S., James C. & his wife, Pamela, Peter C. & his wife, Kimberly and Patricia E. & her husband, Ken VanHook; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; and by her extended family & many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 25, at Morton & Whetstone funeral home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 972 S. Miami St., West Milton. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Rosemary to the Alzheimer’s Association.
