Roy H. Hamilton

HAMILTON, Roy H., age 98, formerly of Butler Twp., passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Randall Residence in Tipp City. He was born March 13, 1920 in Richmond, IN, son of the late James H. & Daisy Hamilton. Roy was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II and Korea. Roy was a proud graduate of Earlham College where he was a standout track and field athlete, which led to his induction into the Earlham College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and 4 brothers, Roy is survived by his 4 children, Linda (Larry) Karns of Vandalia, Janet Hamilton of Clayton, Diana (Ray) Knoth of Fairfield and Jim (Linda) Hamilton of Springboro; 5 grandchildren, Ben (Jen) Knoth, Andrea (Chuck) Goins, Kara Knoth, Carly Hamilton & Luke Hamilton; 5 great-grandchildren, Violet, Lucy, Miles, Hannah & Presley; his beloved dog and companion, Millie, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, December 11 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 12 at Earlham Cemetery, 1101 National Rd. West, Richmond, IN 47374.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the wonderful staff of Randall Residence and of Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County for the compassionate card provided to Roy and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County in Roy’s memory.
