LAUB, Ruby E., age 96, of Vandalia passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, born April 16, 1917, daughter of the late Louie & Onda Mullenix. Ruby was married to her husband Alvin for 47 years, and he preceded her in death in 1986. Ruby is survived by her son, John & wife, Virginia Laub of Dayton; grandchildren, David and wife, Anne and daughter, Jady of Boulder, CO; Diane and husband, Ian and children, Jacob and Anna of Louisville, KY and Dan and wife, Lindsay, and sons, Riley & Rohen and daughter, Reagan of Windsor, CO; sisters, Mary Thalman of Largo, FL and Esther and husband, Rollin Thompson of Bradford, OH, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was a retired employee of the Vandalia-Butler City Schools, enjoyed many years of volunteering at Grandview Hospital and was an avid card player. She was preceded in death by brothers, Roger, James, Dale, Max and Paul, and sisters, Helen and Marjorie. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, October 27 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home in Vandalia with Pastor Gil Santiago officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until time of service. A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 28 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or to St. John's Lutheran Church, 122 W. National Rd., Vandalia in Ruby's memory.
