Russell A. Stidham

STIDHAM, Russell A., age 87 of Union, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born March 5, 1931 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Hugh & Lillie (Crider) Stidham. Russell was a U.S. Navy Veteran and also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and National Guard for a total of 17 years of proud military service. He worked for NCR and General Motors before his retirement. He loved fishing and hunting, had a passion for talking about cars, was a longtime fixture with the North Riverdale Little League and loved his Cincinnati Reds. He was also member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipp City.

Russell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen; 6 children, Kathleen Stidham-Scott, Joseph (Leanne) Stidham, Christopher (Theresa) Stidham, Maria (Ken) Smiley, Andrew (Cheryl) Stidham, & Nicholas (Vilma) Stidham; 1 sister, Mildred Thompson; 2 brothers, Tom & John Stidham; 17 grandchildren, Andrea, Michael, Megan, Sydney, Samuel, Samantha, Jenna, Zachary, Benjamin, Grant, Griffin, Gabrielle, Carl, Charles, Caily, Chloe, & Chelsea; 8 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kinsley, Raiden, Chance, Cooper, Caspin, Archer and the soon-to-arrive, Winona; his beloved dog, Cooper, along with a host of extended family and wonderful friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, November 2 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 753 S. Hyatt St., Tipp City, OH with Fr. Marc Sherlock officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Tipp City. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 am until time of service. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
