Russell Wehrley
Age 94 of Tipp City, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Grandview Medical Center. He was born November 16, 1927 in Darke County, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Miller) Wehrley. Russell was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and a retired employee of Frigidaire-Division of General Motors. He was a devoted man of faith and an unwavering child of God, loved traveling, gardening, playing cards and eating out with family and friends. He was very social, always looking to make new friends and never met a stranger. He had a love of boating and being on the water with this family. Russell’s claim to fame was pulling 7 skiers simultaneously on Dale Hollow Lake.
Preceded in death by his parents, three wives, Shirley, Lois and Hazel, children, Lillian, Jim Goodall and Deborah Siefke; Russell is survived by 6 children, Robert Wehrley (Ruth), Vickie Lear (Rich), Steven Wehrley, Vicki Lee Webb, David N. Goodall and Rebecca Schmitz (Larry); 1 sister, Suzanne Subler; 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 19, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Tim Scarborough officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening (1/18) from 5-7 pm.
