HURST, Ruth Mae (Fowler), 98 years old, passed away November 22, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born July 30, 1916 in Ontario, California and made Dayton her home in 1926. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Orville F. (Bud) Hurst, and her son, Orville E. (Gene) Hurst, her parents, James A. and Margaret Roxanne (Buck) Fowler, and Ruth was the last remaining of five children, Robert, James A. Jr., Naomi Woolery and Shannon Gilbert. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Elaine Pitsinger of Dayton; daughter-in-law, Betty Hurst of Beavercreek, sister-in-law, Carolyn Fowler, 6 grandchildren, Carlotta Hurst and Dr. Michael (Anne) Hurst, all of California, Darrell (Sondra) Hurst of Washington State, Steven (Jennifer) Hurst of Maryland, R. Patrick (Liz) Pitsinger of N. Carolina and Kathleen (Jeff) Lavey of Bradford, Ohio; 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was a 1934 graduate of Kiser High School. She and her husband, Orville were the proud founders and past owners of "Industrial Grinding Service" (Precision Grinding) which they founded in 1944. Ruth and Orville F. loved and did a lot of traveling and fishing. Ruth loved her family, her flower gardens and studying the history of South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 29 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia, Ohio with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment will follow at Willowview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Ruth's memory. The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice of Dayton, Dr. Prasha and the doctors and nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dr. Vualva of Kettering Medical Center and the Randall Residence of Tipp City and their very special staff.
