Ruth M. Lechner

LECHNER, Ruth M. age 94 of Butler Twp. passed away Friday June 24, 2011 at her residence following an illness. She was born April 15, 1917 in Jacksonville, OH daughter of the late John H. & Etta V. (Weldon) Knight. Ruth was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, and was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Butler Twp. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary for many years and was a member of the American Slovak Club. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Melvin A. Lechner Sr. in 2005. She is survived by 2 sons Melvin A. Jr. & wife Dorothy Lechner and Gary R. & wife Deb Lechner all of Butler Twp.; 4 grandchildren Linda Laymon, Jeff Lechner, Scott Lechner, Andrea Canan, and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday evening at 7:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Tom Weeks officiating. Private burial services will be held at the convenience of the family at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 7pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. in Ruths memory.
