Samuel Kasler
Age 82 of Vandalia, Ohio went home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Sam was born in Homer Township, Morgan County, Ohio in 1939 to Millard Fillmore and Hazel Lenore (Hambel) Kasler. He attended school in a one-room country schoolhouse until high school, where he was elected President of his class of twelve students. Sam married his high school sweetheart, Melinda Gamwell of Glouster, Ohio on June 15, 1958. Sam and Melinda were happily married 52 years until her death in 2010. Sam was proud to be a veteran of the U. S. Army, where he served in Fort Knox, KY. They came to Dayton in 1959 where he was employed as a Lab Technician at Globe Motors (now Allied Motion) for 62 years. He received his retirement (medical) just 6 days before his death.
Sam is survived by his son, Scott, and his wife, Sandra (Hoessli) and daughter, AmyBeth and her husband, Mark Cohen; granddaughters, Kelly (Kasler) Cleveland and husband, Casey, Lindsey Kasler, Sarah Cohen and Deanna Cohen; and great-grandsons, Noah and Bodhi. Sam is also survived by his brother, Jack Kasler, from Morgan County, Ohio and his nephews, Jeffery, Jeremy, Jonathan and Jack, Jr.
Sam is preceded in death by his baby sister, Elsie, his parents, and his wife.
A private graveside funeral service was held on Saturday, March 13, at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia, officiated by the Rev. Michael N. Malcosky.
