Shirley L. Bean

BEAN, Shirley Lee, age 91 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Koester Pavilion in Troy. He was born February 24, 1926 in Cookeville, TN, son of the late Thomas & Minnie (Gaw) Bean. Shirley was a member of the Tabernacle of God Church in Hillsboro, was a retired employee of General Motors and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen in 2012, 1 brother, Everette, and 3 sisters, Ruby, Irene & Christine, Shirley is survived by his children, Linda & Jerry Miller of Troy, Joan & Dave Koewler of Dayton, Sheila Reid of Piqua & Jeffrey & Faith Bean of Dayton; 1 brother, Bobby; 3 granddaughters, Stephanie Miller, Rachael DeBerry & Crystal McGuffin; 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary, Turner, Logan & Jordan, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 18 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Russell Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm.
