Steven M. (McClain) McGinnis

Age 57, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017, at The Hospice of Dayton. Steven was born October 26, 1959 in Dayton to the late Paul D. & Laraine S. (Landis) McGinnis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two step-fathers, Mike McClain and Robert Garman; and by one brother, Jeffrey McGinnis.

Steven was proud to have served in the U. S. Army from 1977 to 1991 and he was the current Commander of the VFW Post # 6560. He will be remembered by his family as a Grill Master, proficient in both charcoal & propane, and he was a “Karaoke Specialist.”

He is survived by his wife of the past 23 years, Kornelia “Konny” (Klein) McGinnis; five children, Daniel Sherrod (Adrienne), Aron Sherrod (Kamela), Ryan McGinnis, Diana McGinnis & Rachel McGinnis; three grandchildren, Dustin, Rayna & Griffin; brother, Mike McClain (Diana); sister, Rhonda Statham; sister-in-law, Kim McGinnis; and by numerous nieces & nephews.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February10, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Following the memorial service, family & friends are invited to a celebration of Steven’s life at the VFW Post # 6560, 5483 Wadsworth Road, Dayton, OH 45414.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that contributions be made in memory of Steven to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
