NESTOR, Stewart E. Jr. age 87 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday October 28, 2010 in Cincinnati following an illness. He was a member of St Christopher Catholic Church and was a retired employee of General Motors. He worked on the Piqua Nuclear Power Plant which was one of the first nuclear power plants in the U.S. Stewart was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Fanning where he was involved in every major battle in the Pacific Theater after the Battle of Midway until the end of WWII. Folllowing the war, he enjoyed travelling to the U.S.S. Fanning reunions that were held around the country. Stewart was preceded in death by 2 sisters Rosemary Ruffin and Eileen Miller. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Teresa (Rizzo) Nestor; 2 daughters Becky & husband Steve Vehr, Suzanne Troendly; 2 sons Stewart & wife Diane Nestor, Mike & wife Chris Nestor; one sister Shirley Stauffer; 9 grandchildren Timothy, Molly, Jeremy, Michelle, Nicole, Angela, Shawn, Erin, and Carrie; 3 great-grandchildren Gavin, Allison, and Julia. Funeral services will be held Monday November 1, at 2:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Fr. Robert Monnin officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12 noon until time of the services.
