Terry Alan Lutz

January 28, 1949 — August 9, 2014

LUTZ, Terry Alan, age 65, of Vandalia, passed away peacefully in his home, on Saturday, August 9, 2014, after an eight-month courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. He was born January 28, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio, a 1967 graduate of Vandalia Butler High School. Preceded in death by his father, Paul Emerson Lutz, Terry is survived by his mother, Phyllis Ann Powless; companion, Sharon Gitman; brother, Larry (Marcia) Lutz; three daughters, Amy (Jason) Bailey, Katy (Brett) Wolfe, and Juli (Derek) Anderson, and eight, adoring grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, father, grandfather and partner. His smile will remain forever in the minds of those who knew him well. Terry was also a skilled builder and owner of Lutz Construction. In his legacy, he leaves behind many beautifully designed homes and building structures throughout the North-Dayton community. Many long-time residents of Vandalia and Troy, Ohio will remember Terry as manager to the well-thought-of, women's clothing store, Anita's Fashions, where he worked alongside his mother through the 1970's and early 1980's. The family will joyfully receive friends on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM, at Morton and Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, OH 45377. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Morton and Whetstone with a Graveside Service to follow at Hillgrove Cemetery, 1002 E. Central Avenue, Miamisburg, OH 45342. Condolences can be made online with Morton and Whetstone or sent by mail to Phyllis Powless, C/O Hearth and Home, 55 Great Hill Dr., Suite 204, Dayton, OH 45414. Donations made in Terry's honor, to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 or online at Pancan.org, are very much appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Morton and Whetstone Funeral Home of Vandalia. Our most sincere thank you goes out to The James Cancer Center located at OSU in Columbus, OH and to Hospice Center of Dayton for their excellence in the care of our beloved.
