Thelma A. Hawk

HAWK, Thelma A., age 74 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She was born March 17, 1943 in Irvine, KY, daughter of the late Edward & Mamie May (Marcum) Tipton. Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ona Dempsey, Thelma is survived by her husband, John Hawk; 4 children, Jerry Newport, Teresa Newport, Paul “Buddy” Newport and Jamie Newport; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marge LeMaster & Etta Brown of FL and 4 brothers, James Tipton, Raymon Tipton, Silas Tipton, all of TN and Bob Tipton of KY. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 28 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Mr. John Seagraves officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening (10/27) from 5-7 pm.
