Thomas L. Hochwalt, Sr.
Age 78, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, on his birthday. He was born February 14, 1944 in Dayton to the late Noel & Ruby (Houseman) Hochwalt. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Joann Wuest & her husband, Paul; and by his brother, Noel Hochwalt, Jr.
Tom was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church; AMVETS Post # 99; and the Moose Lodge in Celina, Ohio. He retired from General Motors & Joseph Airport Toyota and he was one of the owners of the former H & H Classics in Vandalia, Ohio. Tom enjoyed rebuilding and riding Harley’s as well as camping & boating.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sharyl R. (Castle) Hochwalt, whom he married on February 14, 1976. In addition to Sharyl he is also survived by two children, Thomas L. Hochwalt, Jr. & his wife, Lisa and Terri Bessler & her husband, Mark; three grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon (Kennedy) & Josh Bessler; two brothers, Glenn Hochwalt & his wife, Mary Lou and Jerry Hochwalt & his wife, Martha; and by numerous nieces & nephews.
The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Andrew Smith officiating. Interment will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
