Thomas Wolford

June 28, 1925 — September 14, 2013

The Rev. Thomas E. Wolford went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2013. He was born in 1925 in Mansfield, Ohio. He graduated from Mansfield High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wittenberg University in 1947 and continued on to receive a Masters of Divinity from Hamma Divinity School, now Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He served in the U.S. Navy. He pastored several congregations in Ohio including St. Luke, Marietta; Trinity, Findlay, Westwood, Dayton, and Shiloh, Lewisburg. Pastor Wolford is survived by his wife Charlene Bonslett; children: Kathryn Wolford Barrett & Andrew J. Wolford; grandchildren: Jennifer Barrett Bloch, James Barrett, Nathan Wolford & Elizabeth Wolford; great grandchildren: Brody Wargel & Amy Bloch. He is preceded in death by his brothers Robert & Richard and his parents, William & Alma Wolford. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 19, at North Riverdale Lutheran Church, 45 Kurtz Ave, Dayton, OH 45405. Bishop Suzanne Dillahunt will preside over the service, Pr. Doug Jacobs will offer the eulogy and Pr. Monte Stevens will be the liturgist. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
