Truman H. Myers

April 5, 1928 — February 12, 2015

MYERS, Truman H., age 86 of Vandalia passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Stonespring of Vandalia. He was born April 5, 1928 in Lebanon, MO, son of the late Ira & Ethel (Jeffries) Myers. Truman was a U.S. Army Veteran and a life member of the VFW Post #9582 and the AmVets Post #99. He was also a member of the John W. Durst Lodge #716 F&AM. Truman retired from the City of Dayton Water Division after nearly 30 years of dedicated service and then worked for the Avis Rental Car Company for almost 20 years. Preceded in death by his wife, Avenelle Myers in 2005 and his brother, Raymond, Truman is survived by 3 children, Darlene Hembree (Wayne), Teresa Cochran (Tim) and Chip Myers (Michele); 6 grandchildren, Dawn Nichols, Michelle Morris, Jason Thurman, Greg Cochran, Christina Druhe, & Lily Pederson; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and scores of good friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 18 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Truman's memory.
